Frail Becoming CD (2012)
Daylight Dies CD discography As one of the few American bands able to make a dent in the traditionally European-dominated realm of melodic/gothic death/doom, Daylight Dies have obviously never had the easy road to fame and fortune paved before them, but that couldn't stop the Asheville, North Carolina-based group from delivering a pair of ...

Dismantling Devotion CD (2006)
Daylight Dies albums Daylight Dies celebrated their tenth anniversary in 2006 -- and after all that time, headbangers still had a hard time believing they were an American band. If you conducted a blindfold test and played Dismantling Devotion (which was recorded in 2005 and released in the U.S. in March 2006) for ...

No Reply CD (2002)
Daylight Dies CD discography Daylight Dies is from Raleigh, North Carolina, but No Reply sounds far more like something from Sweden or Great Britain than it does anything from the band's home state (or from the U.S. in general). They play Goth-tinged doom/death metal in a style that is strongly reminiscent of early-to-middle period Katatonia or Paradise Lost. With nine songs clocking in at just over an hour total -- and averaging just under seven minutes each -- this is an album that takes its time in driving ...

Lost to the Living CD (2008)
Daylight Dies albums If melodic death metal seems like a contradiction in terms to you, then you probably haven't heard Daylight Dies. Combining elements of death-, doom-, and prog-metal, the North Carolinan band is a study in contrasts on their third album, LOST TO THE LIVING. Savagely thrashing guitars rub shoulders with carefully crafted melody lines; roaring, demonic vocals alternate with atmospheric moments of gentle beauty. Clearly, Daylight Dies cares little for upholding the dogmatic restrictions of metal sub-genres; LOST TO THE LIVING shows them to be moving towards an ever-expanding new metal paradigm.
Recording information: 12/2007-02/2008.
Personnel: Nathan Ellis (vocals); Barre Gambling (acoustic guitar, electric guitar); Matthew Golombisky (strings, woodwinds); Jesse Haff (drums).
