Bingo Beats Limited CD (2001)
DJ Zinc's mighty Bingo Beats assembled the breakbeat garage experiments of "138 Trek," "Drifting," and excellent aliases like Jammin', and the end result was a compelling mixture of funk-soaked sub-bass shot through the propulsive accessibility of 2-step and a less aggressive jungle vibe. While darker and more technical than most in the breakstep scene, DJ Zinc's collection was often overwhelmingly danceable. Zed Bias, Shox, DJ Hype, and Shelltoe flipped rhythms over with the ingenuity of fast IDM, and the overall 80-minute impact was potent and powerful, if sometimes too similar and serious. ~ Dean Carlson
