Four Corners Four Corners CD (2013)
CD $19.89 Buy It  Details
Four Corners discography There is a cyclical nature in life. One can come to expect, and sometimes take for granted, the change of seasons, rising and falling tides, sunrises and sunsets, and the like. It is when the unexpected occurs that one is forced to take a closer observation of the happenings. Such is the case with Four Corners. In 2009 four individuals entered their first year of music school at Western Michigan University with the hopes, desires, inquisitiveness and uncertainties, which is often the profile for the first year music student. But between the four students, who eventually became Four Corners, there was a magnetic energy, based on the love of vocal harmony, work ethic, and opportunity to create something new. These qualities were and continue to be the basis for the groups continued growth. Four Corners stands on the shoulders of many similar jazz vocal groups, dating from the 1940's to the present. It has never been their intent to become a duplicate of any of the well respected groups. However, in order ...
Happy Nights Happy Nights CD (2005)

Four Corners songs It's an old metaphor, fine wine mellows with age. In the case of the El Paso group, Four Corners, the music is becoming more adventurous, more mature, more enjoyable. Not that their initial album was tedius; far from it. That album laid out the foundation for their second outing. Aaron Goldfarb, Mike Kelly, Greg Leeah, and Paul Deemer have added some more punch to the ensemble, now an octet featuring veteran trumpeter Ken Capshaw,jazz-saxophonist Nick Flood, keyboardist Nate Shocker, and clarinetist Julia Georges (who should cut her own CD, she's that good!). Each of the seven compositions are great as standalone songs, but taken together, they seem to comprise a subtle body of work dedicated to the easy life of adolescence away from the tedium and struggle of daily high school life, in the transition before young adulthood. ...

Four Corners CD discography Local Athens, GA, unit the Four Corners take up the mod flag in the biggest of fashions with their debut disc. Released on CD with both a stereo and mono (!!) mix, the opening chords of "Untitled Instrumental Theme #1" is what was once wonderfully feisty and immediate about the Kinks and the Jam. Period-perfect vocals by Tracey Hatch are backed up by big swatches of Farfisa organ and classic garage-worthy drumming by Ryan Lewis. On songs like "Miss Moneypenny" and "Secret Life," Neil Cleary's guitar work comes forward as the band's fuzz-faced secret weapon. With the combination of a few well-chosen covers (particularly the well-suited reworking of the Stooges' "No Fun"), and plenty of honest verve, the Four Corners follow in the fine tradition of other semi-psychedelic guitar combos of the period captured in either of ...

Four Corners CD discography Guaranteed to eliminate the Scrooge out of anyone. Who could not be into the Christmas sprit after hearing the underrated indie pop bands of America bounce along to holiday carols -- some traditional, others made up specifically for Kindercore Christmas Two. Dressy Bessy's "All the Right Reasons" and Vermont's "Santa Claws" are catchy enough to be sung door to door. Busytoby, I Am the World Trade Center, Junior Varsity (who do a playful version of the Sonics' "Don't Believe in Christmas"), the Mendoza Line, and the Sixth Great Lake are all in the spirit as well. ~ Mike DaRonco
