Kryptonite CD (1996)
Gaunt CD discography In the follow up to their classic, YEAH, ME TOO, the Columbus, Ohio quartet Gaunt's KRYPTONITE shows the band expanding its previously stripped down, punk rock sonic base by adding horns and even a piano throughout. Clocking in at just over half an hour, the 12 songs on KRYPTONITE, like the band's best work, packs ferocious punk rock energy into smart, short pop songs.
1996's KRYPTONITE includes a number of hard-driving tunes that will be familiar to fans of Gaunt's red hot live show, including "Transistor Sister" and the excellent title track. But there is more adventurous territory here, too. Singer and songwriter Jerry Wick has slipped in a few pop gems on this release, including the terrific "Hope You're Happy," and the beautiful slow ballad "Superman," one of the few songs in the rock canon to feature a distorted cymbal solo.
Recorded at Permasonic, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Arranger: Gaunt.

Sob Story CD (1994)
Gaunt music CDs After bashing out a cluster of dyspeptic seven-inch punk singles, Columbus, Ohio's Gaunt headed into a local studio to record their first long-playing release. In 1994's resulting EP SOB STORY, Gaunt's bandleader and resident angry young man Jerry Wick wears his dissatisfaction and bitterness on his sleeve, as evidenced by hard-rocking and bluntly titled songs such as "Fear," "Lies," and "Frustration."
Lo-fi and chock full of punk vitriol, SOB STORY set Gaunt on a fruitful recording career that ended shortly after 1998's BRICKS AND BLACKOUTS, their underrated foray into power pop. While it features a much less-together band than the one heard on their excellent releases YEAH, ME TOO and KRYPTONITE, SOB STORY sets a standard by which 1990s punk bands should be measured.

I Can See Your Mom From Here CD (1995)
Gaunt discography To their fans, the Columbus, Ohio quartet Gaunt's I CAN SEE YOUR MOM FROM HERE is a pivotal release. Renowned for their breakneck, bang-it-out-and-get-it-over-quick brand of punk, here the group shows signs of intellectual life beneath the twin guitar attack of singer/guitarist/songwriter Jerry Wick and lead man Jovan Karcic.
While I CAN SEE YOUR MOM FROM HERE doesn't eschew the blunt power and beauty of the band's earlier work--it notably features their potty-mouthed punk anthem "Rich Kids"--it's clear on this, their first full-length release, that Wick's songwriting is developing and taking on a distinctly poetic edge. On "Mason-Nixon Line" and the dirge-like final track, "Dead Man's Coat," Wick delivers some of his best early-period songwriting. Like Green Day, to whom they were often compared to before the former's meteoric rise, Gaunt rock out with a mixture of glee and disgust. But, also like Green Day, they're not afraid to display their smarts, either.
Recorded in Chicago, Illinois.
Gaunt: Jerry Wick (vocals, guitar); Jovan Karcic (guitar); Eric Barth (bass); Jeff R (drums).
Additional personnel: Azita (keyboards, background vocals).
