Judy Gold CD discography ROLL WITH THE NEW won the 1998 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Comedy Album.
In the time-honored tradition of Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor, Chris Rock's ROLL WITH THE NEW uses spicy language to address topics of race, relationships and black culture. Taken from a live performance recorded at Washington D.C.'s Takoma Theater in May 1996 and used for the HBO special "Bring The Pain," Rock's routines are interspersed with newly recorded sketches. De La Soul producer Prince Paul was at the helm for these and his influence stands out in "Press Conference," a bit in which O.J. Simpson and Ike Turner answer questions with samples from classic rap songs a la Dickie Goodman's 1975 hit "Mr. Jaws."
