||You Call That Dark CD (2004) |
Kate Jacobs music CDs On her fourth full-length, singer/songwriter Kate Jacobs wraps her twee, plaintive voice around 13 new songs, 12 of which she wrote, one of which she borrowed the lyrics from William Shakespeare. Produced by Dave Schramm, who also handles most of the guitar chores here, You Call That Dark might be called a continuation of the literate, pop Americana evidenced on her earlier records, particularly 1998's Hydrangea. ||Calm Comes After CD (1993) |
Kate Jacobs CD discography Originally an independent artist, Jacobs recorded The Calm Comes After, which was picked up by Bar None Records with three new cuts. The charm of this album is in Jacobs's friendly, almost naive, delivery. Her lyrics have a deeply knowing womanly innocence that really says she sees more than she says and acts on it. Think of this artist as a less-religious urban Iris Dement. Kate is supported by a sparse country-sounding band. ...
