Infernal Comedy: Confessions of a Serial Killer DVD (2010)
Malkovich CD discography As written and directed for the stage by Michael Sturminger, the theatrical production The Infernal Comedy: Confessions of a Serial Killer dramatized the life and evil deeds of Johann "Jack" Unterweger (1950-94). Though Unterweger held court as one of the most celebrated European journalists and poets, and at one point managed to convince many that he had successfully "reintegrated" into society years after a murder conviction, authorities ultimately found him guilty of slaying numerous prostitutes in countries across 20th Century Europe. The Infernal Comedy (2009) stars the legendary John Malkovich as Unterweger, in a production designed for one actor, two sopranos and an orchestra. The entire production appears in this release, with the soprano parts filled by Laura Aikin and Aleksandra Zamojska, and the Orchester Wiener Akademie providing symphonic accompaniment. The music features selections by Haydn, Mozart, Vivaldi, Boccherini, Weber and Beethoven; Birgit Hutter designed the costumes.
This stage play is for a Baroque orchestra, 2 sopranos, and 1 actor. It's based on the real-life story of Jack Unterweger, a convicted murderer, acclaimed imprisoned poet, pardoned and celebrated author and journalist, notorious womanizer, and prime example of reintegration, who gradually was suspected of killing a growing number of prostitutes in Vienna, Graz, Prague, and Los Angeles.
