That's the Way It Is: The Best of Mel & Kim CD (2002)
Mel & Kim music CDs 2001 compilation for the British dance/pop sister act features 17 tracks including remixes & Kim Appleby solo material. EMI Gold.
Mel & Kim, an energized young duo produced by the omnipresent Stock, Aitken & Waterman, debuted with the biggest hit of their career, "Respectable," which performed very well in Great Britain and made charts all over the world. Although they never equalled that success, and never took off in America despite reaching the dance charts occasionally, Mel & Kim recorded a few more nuggets of vibrant dance-pop -- "Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)," "F.L.M.," "That's the Way It Is" -- all of which are included on EMI's 17-track That's the Way It Is: The Best of Mel & Kim. The duo had slightly more quality control than with other dance-pop acts of the time, making this a pleasant enough collection for listeners who can't get enough of Stock, Aitken & Waterman's dense (for the time) ...

F.L.M. CDs (1987)
Mel & Kim discography Mel & Kim can thank their success on the team of Stock, Aitken & Waterman, who were also the producers that brought the world the likes of Kylie Minogue and Rick Astley in the late '80s. Mel & Kim were, however, the least talented of their stablemates, a fact that becomes very obvious on their debut album F.L.M. This is one of the more insipid examples of '80s dance-pop. The songwriting is Stock, Aitken, and Waterman's weakest, and the limited vocal ability of the Appleby sisters is very apparent. Even for writers and producers of eminently disposable pop music, the three-person team have outdone themselves on this completely forgettable album. ~Jonathan Lewis

Best Of CD (1998)
Mel & Kim CD discography Disky's Best of Mel & Kim presents 14 tracks from the dance-pop duo masterminded by Stock, Aitken & Waterman's production machine. Debuting with the biggest hit of their career, "Respectable," Mel & Kim only recorded one album before the death of Mel Appleby in 1990, but their greatest-hits volumes reveal them as one of the more reliable (faint praise though it is) assembly-line pop groups of the late '80s. "Respectable" is of course here, as are lesser hits "Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)" and "F.L.M.," plus surprisingly solid album tracks like "That's the Way It Is," "From a Whisper to a ...
