Monkeywrench music CDs The 13 tracks on Monkeywrench's ELECTRIC CHILDREN features performances by members of Mudhoney, Lord High Fixers, U-Men, and Lubricated Goat. As soon as the opening track of Electric Children begins you realize that the Monkeywrench have gotten much tighter since their debut eight years before. The production also seems more raw, possibly due to the fact that the band has moved from Conrad Uno to veteran Seattle producer Jack Endino, who also engineered the first releases from bassist Steve Turner and vocalist Mark Arm's other band, Mudhoney. Also contributing to the rawness of the record is the absence of Arm's trademark piano and organ. This enhances the energy, causing you to notice a more frantic, electrified side of the band. As on the debut album, Clean as a Broke-Dick Dog, several genres of music are given equal time, including the country of "Thirteen Nights" and "The Empty Place," the rockabilly of "The Weasel's in the Barn," the Eastern modal quality of "Around Again," and the noise rock of the closing number, "In the Days of the Five." The Monkeywrench have grown in their ability to craft a song, and the result is a masterpiece. ~ Stephen Howell Mark Arm & Steve Turner(Mudhoney),Tim Kerr(Lord High Fixers) Tom Price(Ga Huffer/U-Men) Martin Bland(Lubricated Goat). Recorded With Jack Endino(Nirvana,Nebula). The Monkeywrench: Tim Kerr (vocals, guitar, harmonica); Tom Price (vocals, guitar); Steve Turner (vocals, bass); Martin Bland (vocals, drums); Mark Arm (vocals). Producers: Jack Endino, Tim Kerr, Monkeywrench.

Monkeywrench discography Apparently garage blues supergroup Monkeywrench are operating on a unique eight-year plan: their debut album appeared in 1992, Electric Children showed up in 2000, and their third set, Gabriel's Horn, arrived in stores in 2008. Given that Monkeywrench take plenty of time off between records -- so Mark Arm and Steve Turner can work with Mudhoney, Tim Kerr can produce tons of great punk bands, Tom Price can play with the Kings of Rock and look after his health (he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2003), and Martin Bland can do whatever great Australian drummers do in their spare time -- it's surprising that Gabriel's Horn sounds as solid and unified as it is, ...

Monkeywrench songs Less a blues revival effort and more a Seattle supergroup of the neo-garage scene getting together for some good noise (with some Australian help thanks to Martin Bland, who does a great job keeping the drumming brisk and energetic), the Monkeywrench on their first album kick out the jams rough and ready. Conrad Uno's production unsurprisingly isn't too fussy at all, while the harmonica and mid-speed (as opposed to lazy) tempo of nearly everything adds to the charm of it all. Mark Arm's wounded garage howl isn't trying to really be anything but itself (as opposed to, say, Muddy Waters), and for every straight-up bluesy wail and stomp ("Angelhead," "Doubled Over Again," "Bottle Up & Go"), there's something else again. "Cold Cold World," with a droning organ part from Arm offsetting the quick, crisp clip ...
