Good Ground CD (2005)
Oxford Collapse music CDs Don't let any reviews describing Oxford Collapse as merely another New York dance-rock band fool you. Yes, you can move your feet to A Good Ground, they're from Brooklyn, and they take their cues from post-punk bands like Wire and Mission of Burma. But Oxford Collapse are a little smarter and sometimes, when they bring the tempo down, gracious. With a yap similar to stellastarr*'s Shawn Christensen, guitarist/vocalist Mike Pace leads a band that's on the verge of moving out of indie rock obscurity. Everything here is immediately involving and fresh-sounding, including the jumpy "Cracks in the Causeway" and the beckoning singalong "The Boys Go Home." Further into the record the band sheds its giddy side and reveals soft, mature songwriting that not only broadens its scope, but makes Oxford Collapse even better than expected. Even when you can't decipher what the heck Pace is saying, Oxford Collapse are melodic and sharp and never settle for anything less. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
Recording information: Brooklyn, NY (02/2005-03/2005).
Personnel: Michael Pace (vocals, guitar); Adam Rizer (vocals); Daniel Fetheruton (drums).
Audio Mixer: Andy Sadoff.

Bits CD (2008)
Oxford Collapse discography For BITS, its 2008 sophomore outing on Sub Pop, the Brooklyn-based indie-rock ensemble Oxford Collapse offers up a suprisingly varied yet focused set of quirky, jittery rock. Fronted by vocalist/guitarist Michael Pace and vocalist/bassist Adam Rizer, who often sing in uninhibited unison (see the cheeky, raucous "Young Love Delivers"), the group nods to a number of renowned 1980s and `90s indie/alt acts--Superchunk, Dinosaur Jr., R.E.M., and Husker Du to name a few--while retaining its own youthful charm. Though jaded rock diehards might be somewhat resistant to OC's playful songs, those who weren't around when those bands were in their heyday are likely to be more readily impressed.
Fourth & final album from the NY Indie rock trio .

Remember The Night Parties CD (2006)
Oxford Collapse songs Brooklyn-based trio Oxford Collapse truly hit their stride on their third effort, 2006's REMEMBER THE NIGHT PARTIES, their first release for Sub Pop. While the raucous, post-punk energy that characterized their early releases is still intact, REMEMBER is sunnier and more tightly constructed, taking avant-pop cues from bands like Pavement, Wire, and Yo La Tengo. Excellent production from John Angello keeps things well-defined while still maintaining a modicum of indie-rock fuzz, so that the sound of REMEMBER blends the best of both worlds. With the step up in craft and production backed by the prestige of Sub Pop, Oxford Collapse are indie-rock contenders to watch.
