Fire in the Hole CD (1994)
Picasso Trigger music CDs On all of Picasso Trigger's releases, their balls-out approach to thrashy, riot grrrl inspired rock is both stunning and effective; Fire in the Hole!, however, hints at the band's more angular punk influences and frequently leans toward trashy Southern rock, a move which doesn't always suit the group. But even if these riff-rock tendencies put Fire in the Hole! a small step between the band's other releases, it's a forceful and solid record -- Kathy Poindexter and the band's aggressive, no-nonsense approach to music making is bound to wow listeners even in its less-inspired moments. ~ Nitsuh Abebe

T'ain't Ep CD (1994)
Picasso Trigger discography T'ain't is the step between the agressive riff-rock of Picasso Trigger's Fire in the Hole! and the more focused, angular and low-fi LP Bipolar Cowboy -- on this six-track EP, the band drops some of the trashy Southern rock influences that hampered the former and develops the scratchy, more punk-oriented agression of the latter. As an almost exact midpoint, T'ain't combines the appeals of both sounds, but doesn't completely live up to either. It is, however, a step in a very good direction, as Bipolar Cowboy comes across as a more worthwhile release than its predecessor. ~ Nitsuh Abebe

Bipolar Cowboy CD (1995)
Picasso Trigger songs Bipolar Cowboy is, in almost every respect, a more lo-fi and punk-influenced release than most of the band's earlier work. By featuring the band's angular, scratchy side (and dropping some of the Southern riff-rock leanings that hampered Fire in the Hole), the record asks to be taken much more seriously than other releases, creating a trashier, more Southern counterpart to the riot grrrl acts of the Northwest. Judging by these standards, Bipolar Cowboy is the band's best release. ~ Nitsuh Abebe
