View with Suspicion CD (2011)
Random Hold music CDs Repressing. Import collection from the British Prog Rockers. Random Hold: View With Suspicion is a compilation of some of the bands previously released songs alongside some previously unreleased material and more importantly a preview from the forthcoming album A View From The Summit...Before The Fall, which will be the first new Random Hold album for almost 30 years. Random Hold was a band that was formed by two friends, David Ferguson and David Rhodes in 1976 following a concert by Phil Manzanera's band 801. The band went through a number of line up changes but eventually won a record deal with Polydor and released their debut album produced by Van Der Graaf Generator's Peter Hammill. The band also managed to secure the support slot on Peter Gabriel's 1980 tour when the singer toured the UK and America. Voiceprint.

View from Here CD (1980)
Random Hold discography The cd features sleeve notes with stunning photographs of the band with will be of great interest to their fans.
Compared to their 1979 debut EP, Random Hold's first full-length release features more conventional rock guitar and some tortured vocals reminiscent of Bryan Ferry. Musically comparable to the EP, the album suffers from lyrics that are at best unimaginative and at worst, on songs like "Dolphin Logic" and "Etceteraville," clichéd. The title track is one of the band's best efforts, showcasing Bill MacCormick's headlong bass playing before sliding into an exhilarating ending that repeatedly shifts tempo, then catches its breath and soars, abruptly ending where the EP's "Meat" began. Standing quite apart from the rest of the album, "Fear Eats the Soul" uses minimalist piano, synth effects, and madhouse laughter to create an unsettling horror film soundtrack, with a softly sung, understated lyric adding to the sustained creepiness. Although a couple of shades lighter and less innovative than their eponymous EP, The View from Here is worth a listen. ~ Michael Waynick
Random Hold: Bill MacCormick (bass instrument); Peter Phipps (drums); Dave Ferguson , David Rhodes.

Differing Views CD (2009)
Random Hold songs This is it, the end of the road, the last gasp of a once-great band, as it is ripped to shreds by the sheer stupidity of record company politics. Of course the original Random Hold had disintegrated by this time, returning home from a U.S. tour in tatters. But mainstays David Ferguson and Pete Phipps were still on board, together with ex-Masterswitch mastermind Steve Wilkin, bassist Martyn Swain, and vocalist Sue Raven, and when 1982 ...

Over View CD (2001)
Random Hold CD discography In late 2001, the label Voiceprint reissued the complete version of Random Hold's sole LP, The View From Here. Over View can be seen as a companion CD. It culls demo recordings dating from 1977 to June 1980. One can toss aside the instrumental "Water," David Ferguson and David Rhodes' uninspired first documented collaboration. The tracks from 1978 and early 1979 chronicle the group's growth and feature the first lineup of Rhodes, Ferguson, Bill MacCormick, guitarist Simon Ainley, and drummer David Leach. It is interesting to hear working versions of "With People out of Love" and ...
