Formed in 1983 when its principal members were still in high school, the Artist has been a New Orleans musical fixture ever since. Specializing in the slippery art of second-line instrumentals, the nine-piece outfit's repertoire spans jazz, funk, hip-hop, and old Mardi-Gras chants, performed with a blend of technical flair and exuberant enthusiasm to worldwide audiences as well as its faithful hometown fans.
