 Sawyer Brown Biography
One of the most successful pop-country groups to emerge in the wake of Alabama, Artist found its first taste of national success as the Grand Prize Winner of the 1983 season of Ed McMahon's televised talent show, STAR SEARCH. With a smooth, southern rock-influenced sound that set a template for many "new country" acts of the 1990s, the Nashville-based quintet's releases consistently remained near the top of the charts for two decades. Equally adept at heartache ballads and peppy dance numbers, Artist framed lead singer Mark Miller's warm vocals with music that, while mellow, never lost sight of the group's pure country roots.
