Shocking Pinks CD discography Shocking Pinks is the project of New Zealand pop wunderkind Nick Harte. Raised on a steady diet of shoegaze rock and classic kiwi pop, the young Harte secured a contract with the legendary Flying Nun label. Combing the hypnotic groove and blissed-out guitar drone of bands like My Bloody Valentine, with the shambolic, rag-tag energy of lo-fi punk, SHOCKING PINKS is a fine introduction to a rising young talent. Shocking Pinks albums The follow up to "Dance The Dance Electric", about which Pitchfork Media said "simultaneously one of the most tragically hip and irreverently unaffiliated records of the year" and was given an 8.2 rating out of 10 by the abnormally harsh US music/media website. "Mathematical Warfare" was recorded entirely by Nick Harte and his engineer Mark in a Christchurch studio called "191" and is a positive and distinct move away from the electro sound of the last album. Harte tells us "...the album is consistently about love songs and it's hard to compare the sound to anything else, but it's definitely more poppy. I guess because it's me completely solo I just went way over the top."

Shocking Pinks music CDs 2007 release of the third album by Nick Harte, the wunderkind from way down under who has been touted as one of the best songwriters in his native New Zealand since he was 13. Harte and his mates have obviously been listening to a lot of Velvet underground & New Order as well as other lo-fi influencers, as the one best word to describe their recordings is clearly "acid". Call it ethereal punk, call it out there....but just call it brilliant, because no one else is making music quite as challenging and creative in this new century.
