Stars Biography
Part of the Montreal music scene since the turn of the millennium, Artist' candied pop melodies, boy/girl harmonies, and keyboard hooks reflect the zeitgeist of Canadian independent music circa the early '00s, as also demonstrated by their peers Arcade Fire and Broken Social Scene. Within the basic four-chord template, Artist introduce a variety of approaches, from strummy indie-rock to light electronica to prim chamber pop. Torquil Campbell and Chris Seligman make a crack songwriting team, and Amy Millan's breathy vocals add to the ambience. Millan's 2006 countrified solo album also proved popular with fans.
