Milagrosa CD (2008)
Totimoshi albums In a rare display of earnest self-awareness, Bay Area trio Totimoshi were the first to admit that 2008's Milagrosa -- their fifth full-length and first for Volcom Entertainment -- was something of a transitional project; comprising vocalist/guitarist Tony Aguilar and bassist Meg Castellanos' determined effort to not only distance themselves from once dominant post-grunge influences (particularly drawn from the Melvins and Nirvana), but to incorporate their shared Latin heritage ...

Ladron CD (2006)
Totimoshi discography It's been nearly four years since Oakland, CA's power trio Totimoshi slipped a new disc onto the shelves. 2005 saw an enhanced reissue of 2003's 'Mysterioso?, but that hardly counts. The reason is simple: Totimoshi sound like a re-energized, completely new band. Guitarist Antonio Aguilar and bassist Meg Castellanos (the two founded the band) have been constants, but the drum chair has been a revolving door. The addition of ...

'Mysterioso? CD (2003)
Totimoshi CD discography No, not a Japanese group, this is a metallic Oakland power trio (they do have a half-Cuban female bassist, though, which is far more rare for this sort of group) releasing its third LP. Imagine this: the band's music is too huge -- heavy even for old grunge fans, and too raw for your average metal follower. There's nowhere they fit in, which makes them more interesting -- they're ...

Monoli CD (1999)
Totimoshi albums Totimoshi's second album, Monoli, arrived in 2002, three years after their oft-forgotten debut, and finally ensured that the San Francisco trio would not be overlooked again. The formula? One part noise rock, one part `90s alternative rock, and one part sludge -- bringing to mind a sonic slurry concoction of the Melvins, Helmet, Sonic Youth, the Jesus Lizard, Dinosaur Jr., the Toadies, and even Nirvana. In fact, the latter is especially pronounced in bandleader Antonio "Tony" Aguilar's tormented growls, ...

Mysterioso CD (2003)
Totimoshi music CDs No, not a Japanese group, this is a metallic Oakland power trio (they do have a half-Cuban female bassist, though, which is far more rare for this sort of group) releasing its third LP. Imagine this: the band's music is too huge -- heavy even for old grunge fans, and too raw for your average metal follower. There's nowhere they fit in, which makes them more interesting -- they're a genre to themselves. The well-titled Mysterioso is so fleshy, it is reminiscent of the days of Blue Cheer, like some kind of Stooges/Slayer black-fog mix. It feels like a giant blob (like the movie) coming down your street, destroying all in its path. Here's betting that all three members are deaf or dumbfounded by forty; these riffs are so chunky they are to rock & roll what William "Refrigerator" Perry was to running backs. ~ Jack Rabid
Recorded at Lucky Cat Studios, San Francisco, California.
Totimoshi: Antonio Aguilar (vocals, guitar); Meg Castellanos (bass); Johann zamora (drums).
