Standing Still You Move Forward CD (2005)
Vox Vermillion music CDs Tom Alonso's "The Long Way Home" is an eclectic anthology which features over 60 musicians and vocalists, including drummer Dennis Chambers, saxophonist David Rhen and members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The music runs the gamut from symphonic jazz to Copland-esque chamber pieces and often has the sound of a modern film score.
"Alonso's music is ceaselessly (one might say restlessly) inventive, wisely side-stepping the facile and the shopworn at every juncture." -- John Harding, Patuxent Publishing
"Alonso's assets are many. There's his rich harmonic palette, evocatively bold melodies and an impressive rhythmic verve." -- Jazz Times
"If you want creative, excellent contemporary jazz in a symphonic mode with a touch of swing, this CD collection will be a highly enjoyable addition to your jazz library." -- JazzReview
