Hundred Year Storm music CDs Front man Bill McCharen is known for "never writing anything trite." McCharen (vocals/guitars/keys) originally formed Hundred Year Storm (then called Shady Angels) in the summer of 2002 in Austin, Texas. The band that is now Hundred Year Storm features an astonishing collaboration of friends from about as varied musical backgrounds as possible. Ben Beach (bass) comes to HYS from The Kirby (who recently signed to Militia Group records). Mike D. (guitars/keys/ vocals) brings crashing guitars and is also the drummer for Fall's Victim ( fallsvictim )which has been described as "A deep sound comes out of broken heart: dreams are shattered and Fall's Victim is the soundtrack." The newest additions come from the well-known and successful Austin-based rock band, FAIRFAX ( fairfaxnation ). Both the drummer, Brandon Johnson, and guitarist/singer, David Kiesel, have joined forces with the indie/experimental whirlwind that is Hundred Year Storm. Drawing influences from such varied artists as Sunny Day Real Estate, Starflyer 59, Stavesacre, Death Cab for Cutie, Mineral, Jimmy Eat World, and many others resulted in a very interesting, experimental and yet somehow straight-forward rock n' roll sound. HYS creates a unique sound that touches the part of your soul that longs for something "Deep Inside" while sending you away with sweet melodic undertones. HYS plays Austin venues such as Emo's, The Red Eyed Fly, The Backroom, The Flamingo Cantina, The Vibe, and Momo's and have traveled throughout Texas, playing shows in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. In the summer of 2004, HYS entered Jacket Weather Records to record a 6-song EP. This recording took on a life of its own, becoming a masterpiece beyond anything the band could have possibly imagined. HYS is currently playing all over Texas to support this release out on Jacket Weather Records.
