Botta songs Washington DC based BOTTA it's a "songwriter's band". Founders Daniel Gomez (guitars and vox) and Seth Elias (drums) played on a handful of local bands of the Washington DC underground Latin rock scene eventually joining forces with Santiago Torres (keyboards) and Tim MacCabe (Bass). Strong Lyrical content and mature song structure it's always a trademark for BOTTA but Radio Universal, their sophomore effort, has more of a "live feel" with bigger, more upbeat songs compared to their previous more introspective "Pedazos de mi en el tape", influenced mostly by the amount of live shows in bigger arenas they played during 2007-2008. Radio Universal was named like this because of the variation of styles (like surfing a radio dial) and the "universality" of the themes that range from love and deception to the pursuit of dreams. Recorded in big rooms, state of the arts equipment, artisan production, and crafty mixings truly make this album somewhat of an Audiophile record. Platinum producer Jim Ebert (Meredith Brooks, Butch Walker etc) contributed with the mixing of a couple of songs on this album. Botta albums Singer songwriter Daniel Gomez Botta, originally from Venezuela, grew up listening to his father's record collection of songwriters such as Pablo Milanes, Joan Manuel Serrat, and Silvio Rodriguez. Fascinated with their melody and eloquence Botta wrote his first song at the tender age of 8. Later in life Botta was influnced by the sounds of Seattle`s grunge (Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana) and Latin Rock by Soda Stereo as well as Great Britain Pop rock bands such as The Cure. In the mid 90`s Botta was the front man for La Matriz del Sistema (eventually Papas Underground) playing the DC/Virginia/Maryland circuit and sharing the stage with many local and international acts. After moving to North Carolina for a few years, Daniel came back to the DC area and joined forces with old friend drummer Seth Elias (former member of Controversia) later joining with local talent bassist Tim McCabe, forming a power trio. Their independent album "Pedazos de mi en el tape" (2007)it's a mixture of alterlatin rock and "Trova" with hints of contemporary songwriters like Ryan Adams. Melodic richness, lyric content and mature song structure makes "Pedazos de mi en el tape" a terrific introspective album.
