The Hounds are a 7-piece modern traditional swinging jazz group made up of Perth's next generation of "young jazz lions". Regular favourites at local jazz clubs and festivals, the hounds pride themselves on their killer live show, delivering high energy performances that feed off the septet's ready humour, raucous group improvisation, multiple soloists and driving rhythm section. In recent times they have turned their attention to creating original music in the style and spirit of the traditional jazz masters but with a modern jazz twist. Bell End Blues features original music from Banjo player and band-leader, Mace Francis and Bassist Wayne Slater.

Formed in the summer of 2004, The Hounds began recording their full length debut album later entitled \"Bonafied\". The Hounds are a blues, hip-hop, reggae band served up southern style. Applying their rough swaggering wicked sound they call The Hound Sound, The Hounds are commonly compared to today\'s brand of independent west coast music. The Hounds influences range from delta blues pioneer\'s such as Muddy Waters to the west coast reggae stylings of Sublime. Three musicians from the south named Yogi, Blue and Bruiser make up this talented trio. The charismatic front-man of The Hounds is Yogi. He is known for his laid back vocal style and relentless guitar playing . Yogi\'s influences range from blues icon Albert Collins to reggae legend Bob Marley. Yogi\'s right hand man and bass player extraordinaire is Blue. His aggressive rap vocal style and relentless stage antics makes The Hounds an entertaining band. Blue\'s influences include old school hip-hop leaders The Beastie Boys and Digital Underground. Rounding out the pack of hounds is the young Bruiser. A hard hitting percussionist from the beaches of Cali. His knowledge of the drums is overwhelmingly impressive and is present in every live show.

Hounds albums Chances are that the Hounds (also referred to as "the Hound" in some accounts) are an unknown quantity to most listeners, except for those who spent time in Sweden in second half of the 1960s. Fact is, though, that they're well worth hearing as a light pop/rock outfit with some less often glimpsed, slightly heavier sides -- they even managed to dip a toe into what would later be called "freakbeat" near the end of their history. The Hounds never released an album, but they enjoyed enough charting singles in Sweden that this CD could qualify as a greatest-hits as well as a best-of collection, representing everything they ever ...

Hounds CD discography Film director Robert Mugge has been responsible for a number of documentaries chronicling indigenous American musical styles, notably Deep Blues (1991) and Gather at the River: A Bluegrass Celebration (1994). Last of the Mississippi Jukes, which had its first exposure on a premium cable movie channel and was released on DVD concurrently with this audio soundtrack CD, is closest to Deep Blues among his efforts, though it is more concerned with electric blues.
