Fallen Angel CD (1996)
Gary O'Connor albums Fallen Angel, Jamie Warren's first American album, is an over-produced but engaging set of contemporary country that doesn't offer any original thrills, yet it is so well-crafted and performed that its slight predictability doesn't matter. Warren is a charming, down-to-earth vocalist that can sell even mediocre songs, but Fallen Angel isn't burdened by weak material. Most of the album, from the single "One Step Back" to "What Goes Around Comes Around," is professional contemporary country that pushes all the right buttons without seeming calculating. Listening to Fallen Angel, it's easy to see why Warren was so popular in Canada for so long. ~ Thom Owens
