California Callin' CD (2001)
Bill Wence discography A credible songwriter in his own right, Bill Wence offers up a healthy amount of traditional no-frills country music. The longtime keyboardist for Tom T. Hall has a style that calls to mind John Hiatt during "You're the Best." The title track is a bit more up-tempo and doesn't quite work as well, but when Wence chooses softer ballads with strong narratives, such as on "I'll Send My Love," as well as "I Wanna Do It Again," he strikes a chord that is timeless and true. The mandolin also works well on the track. It seems the shorter the song's length, the better it comes across to the listener.
