Vitamin Gee CD (2001)
Rob Gee songs This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by Rob Gee.
From the ashes of Frankie Bones' legendary Storm raves, New York hardcore, as seen through the smoke-red eyes of Rob Gee, has an aggressively sarcastic tone, typical of its city of origin, that differentiates it from the more pseudo-militaristic march of Northern European gabber that is its closest relative. Although the standard overdriven kick-drum and cardiac arrest tempos are present, Gee's particular style owes an equal amount to the hip-hop mega-mix of his youth, with sample-crazed breaks and synthesized call-and-response choruses. Of course, it's all done with a particularly twisted sense of humor. Whether Gee is biting the classic beat of Run-D.M.C.'s "It's Like That," or singing along in the cadence of the Oompa-Loompas, you gotta hope he's joking as he chants "U-Want-Some-X." Regardless, the tongue-in-cheek method answers the accusations of the Paisans on "Jersey Guido" when they claim, "This sounds like the same record over and over again." A wisenheimer like Gee keeps you entertained throughout. ~ Joshua Glazer

Says...... CD (2008)
Rob Gee albums When you're working at the far edge of the musical envelope, it's good to keep a sense of humor, or you run the risk of falling into po-faced pretentiousness or bitterness. Rob Gee has been operating for over a decade at the furthest reaches of the electro spectrum. In the early '90s he had a dual career as metal band frontman and a Janus-faced DJ, separately spinning techno and metal/industrial. Smashing them together, Gee created gabber, an extreme sound that blended metal and high-BPM techno into one headbanging style. Where Gee led, few other DJs/artists dared follow, and he remains virtually in a class all his own. Says......, the second in a projected trilogy of albums with his five-man band, is a comic ride through all of Gee's musical loves and influences. Guaranteed to get the most yucks is "Jersey Guido," where The Sopranos crew sets about creating a pure '90s-styled gabber track. And there are plenty more laughs within. "The Milky Way" is a goofy hip-hop/gabber shout-out to the candy bar, "Polyester" ...
