Il Peso Delle Nuvole CD (2003)
Pierluigi Balducci CD discography Almost everywhere on this recording, bassist Pierluigi Balducci seems at the cusp of a breakthrough that never quite happens. If the whole album had the humor, movement, and depth of the book-ended "Woland's Polka" tracks, this album would deserve the highest accolades. As it is, the leader/composer/bassist is a driven performer with a somewhat eclectic approach who is attracted to quality musicians. Perhaps not surprisingly, given his reputation, the most exciting performances come from Reijseger, who is superb throughout, and whose guitar-like strumming on "Il Peso Delle Nuvole, Pt. 1" steals the show. The little-known pianist Mirko Signorile is a pleasant surprise, with glimpses of swirling lines and an eye to the future. Despite the many highlights ...
