B.O.B Biography
Born Robert Ray Simmons, the Decatur, Georgia, native Artist. is a fast-rising producer/MC signed to T.I.'s Grand Hustle label. Discovered by TJ Chapman in 2006 after performing his ode-to-weed single, "Cloud 9," at ATL nightspot Club Crucial, Artist. went on to release a string of mixtapes throughout 2007 and 2008. Influenced by the genre-bending works of OutKast, Gnarls Barkley, and Wyclef Jean, Artist. creates unconventional Southern hip-hop--exemplified by the single "I'll Be in the Sky"--that blends elements of soul, funk, jazz, doo wop and pop/rock. His debut album, THE ADVENTURES OF BOBBY RAY, was released in 2010.
