BOTIELUS music CDs Botielus creates melodic symphonies and soundscapes using only synthesizers. He combines realistic traditional sounds (strings, oboe, piano, etc. ) with pure synthesizer sounds - to create a virtual orchestra. His music is wonderfully unique, but has been compared to the music ofJean Michel Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Enigma, Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, and Yanni."Phresh Ideas" is Botielus' 3rd album, and was released only a month or so after his second album "Vision Quest". He used the same synthesizer, and recording methods, so it has the same sonic qualities of "Vision Quest". The songwriting changed a bit for some of the songs, more towards a pop type format. This is opposed to many of the "Vision Quest" songs which were more like the Tangerine Dream and Jarre style (long melodic passages with different layers and melodies added - with only a few actual sections). So basically, "Phresh Ideas" is similar, yet different to "Vision Quest"! Great stuff - this is easily some of the best electronic music of this genre on CDbaby - a great, undiscovered jewel!! BOTIELUS discography Botielus is the name he goes by, as this is a one-man effort ('Bow Tie Less' is the origin of the name). This tape has one hour of instrumental music, or "Synthesizer Symphonies" as the artist calls them. You'll hear influences that range from TD to Yanni and even a little bit of Mike Oldfield. "Sweetdreams" starts things off with a light, airy feel. "Guitaresque" continues with a guitar sound mixed with keyboards and percussion. Here is where The Oldfield influence can be heard. "Botielus" is upbeat, with a certain pop flair. "Saxy" and "Saturdays" are reminiscent of very recent Tangerine Dream. "Saxy" is similar to the saxophone pieces that they TD has done on recent albums. The second is just good, solid instrumental music. "535" also uses the sax, along with a marching, almost military, drum sound. "Airdance" continues where "Sweetdreams" left off. "The Freeze" and "Excito" lift you up and send you on an exhilarating journey, with the former being accented with a tubular bells type of sound. "Omri" stands out as the only experimental piece here. It's basically quiet, but a high energy chorus repeats several times to keep the listener at full attention.
