DEATHMASK New York's deadliest rock band spins dark tales around lounge and rock sounds. The result is alarmingly sweet - you'll dance right into the light! In 2002, boy band sensations Mike Biskup and Boris Veysman summoned the souls of singer, Katy Cunningham and drummer, Steve Dans. The seance yielded heat and rock. Deathmask has been haunting New York night Life ever since. There have been deathmask sightings at world famous clubs such as Arlene's Grocery and The Knitting Factory. Some say they even caught a glimpse of the band on stage at the legendary Continental during its last week in the live music business. Others have claimed to have had near deathmask experiences across the Hudson at Kroghs and The Stanhope House; and throughout the Northeast including Philly, Boston, and Cape Cod. They rocked new fans on their Road To Wonderful Tour from Georgia's Willow Oak Festival all the way to The Elbo Room in Chicago. Deathmask's first full length album, Evil Doers, was recorded and produced by deathmask and Kenny Cummings (Aretha Franklin, Elvis Costello, Midnight Oil, Shelby), and mixed by Tom Dekorte (Fat Joe, Luna). Both Kenny and Tom helped to capture the feel of deathmask's powerful live shows in the studio. Fred Kevorkian (Dave Mathews Band, White Stripes) mastered the album at Avatar Studios. With Their second album wonderful to be released March 7, 2008 at Fontanas in Manhattan, deathmask seeks to further expand its already growing audience. Deathmask lives, and deathmask loves you!

Death Mask spins sultry stories through rock, swing, surf, pop, & funk - the resulting sound is alarmingly sweet! Each musician in this eclecticquartet has played in a variety of NYC metro area bands and on some of the finest stages in the NYC/NJ indie scene including: The Knitting Factory, Izzy Bar, The Stanhope House, Kroghs, Arlene's Grocery, The Continental, The Baggot Inn, and Galapagos Art Space. The group was founded by bassist Boris Veysman and guitarist Mike Biskup in the spring of 2002. Both Boris and Mike had been pursuing careers in music prior to creating Death Mask. They recruited singer Katy Cunningham and drummer Steve Dans to add their strange and singular styles to the group later that year. From their studio work for independent and signed acts, to live performances with all walks of musical ensembles, the membersof Death Mask had the training, experience and backbone to create a wildly new sound.

"Sitting in the Dark", recorded a mere 25 years after their debut release of "Split the Atom" in 1986, marks the return of New York metal outfit DeathMask. Containing 9 new tracks and a faithful cover of Black Sabbath's "Symptoms of the Universe", "Sitting in the Dark" delivers a powerful punch, combining classic British metal influences with the power and intensity of good old US metal.
