I Was Told There'd Be Cake CD (2008)
Maryasque discography \"Love Saves The Day in this new release. Maryasque\'s voice soars high above the ethereal dance beats. A quirky, funny spoken word rant - Crazy Supermarket Boxboy- recalls the dry humor of Julie Cruise. A very fresh approach indeed. I highly recommend this one. It will make you dance, motivate you to clean house...possibly both at the ...

Radiate CD (2000)
Maryasque CD discography Radiate offers more evocative sound collages from the New York, NY-based duo Basque. This has a very experimental sound quality, and there are places where it could yet be strengthened. "The River Is Flowing" is quite soft, almost too subtle to be audible at first. This particular experiment might benefit from raising the volume a bit sooner. Other ventures carry themselves through with more intensity. Images come to mind from listening -- of birds or spirits calling along a misty river and the sound echoing out over water, or perhaps of indigenous people chanting around a fire, as on "Aboriginal Lullaby." Others could be the whisperings of ghosts, echoing eerily, as on "Make Me Speak." It's a very impressionistic musical style. ~ Murrday Fisher
With their second release, Radiate, Basque has once again demonstrated their unique gift for transforming emotions into music.
Hauntingly inspiring melodies are woven about with the rich and orchestral threads of Brandt's unique virtuosity on bass, while Maryasque's voice soars above -- sweet, wise, and achingly intense.
The sparse beauty of their first album is surpassed by the lush, dreamy qualities of Radiate's 11 tracks.
Recorded in Brooklyn, New York in 1999.
