||Ken Burns Effect CD (2007) |
Katie Pawluk CD discography Brooklyn's Stars Like Fleas are fond of playing outdoor shows, and the evidence of that affinity on THE KEN BURNS EFFECT goes beyond song titles and bird chirp samples. You can hear it in the capaciousness of the production, which creates wide open spaces for these songs to grow and branch out naturally and unpredictably. It's why the longer songs, such as "Falstaff" and the epic closer "Some Nettles," are often the most tuneful; the melodies ripen to perfection when given time. Toy instruments, harp, violin, and a few judiciously placed digital beats add splashes of color to the living, mossy canvas.
