Scott Durbin songs Scott sure plays like a SOB- son of a bassist, that is. With his mother a big band singer and his father a jazz bassist, Dr. Scott Durbin first attended jazz gigs from the best seat in the house-his mother was pregnant and carrying him while she sang. "I've been playing since before I was born," says Scott. He remembers falling asleep as a boy at home jam sessions, only to find the music still going on when he woke the next morning. Born in Lansing Michigan, Scott studied classical piano from an early age. He began playing professionally at the age of 15 and earned a music scholarship to Michigan State University. He also took up trumpet and today excels as a keyboards, trumpet and flugel horn player. As a performer, composer and arranger, Scott has had songs recorded by R&B groups Rose Royce and Klymaxx as well as New Orleans trumpet great Al Hirt. His music was used as a program theme song on WJR Radio in Detroit and also on National Public Radio. Scott's original music was used on a Kenny Rogers network television special. He has done recording and arranging in Detroit and Los Angles for Motown Records producer Al Davis and had the opportunity of working with Stevie Wonder, and on Bob Seger's hit album Night Moves.
