Symptom Of Life CD (2010)
Synthetic Division CD discography Released in 2010, A Symptom of Life holds special meaning to Shawn Decker of Synthetic Division because it's release marks the 20-year anniversary of his dying wish to meet Depeche Mode. "Music really saved my life," Decker says. "I wanted to combine my respect and love for music with my educational work, and used my own survival inspiration to write this LP."
Synthetic Division embarked on their first tour in May 2010 to support the release, opening for Bella Morte and playing a few solo shows as well. On the tour they gave out over 600 free condoms in co-ordination with One Condoms, and just before hitting the road Shawn was named as an Ambassador for MTV's HIV/AIDS grant giving organization, Staying Alive, joining fellow musicians Travis McCoy (Gym Class Heroes) and Kelly Rowland (Destiny's Child).
"I was diagnosed with HIV as a kid," Decker says. "As an adult, I try to explain that HIV is preventable for most people, especially when it comes to risky behaviors such as unsafe sex."

Tainted Goods CD (2002)
Synthetic Division albums Synthetic Division was founded by Shawn Decker in high school. "It was me, my synth, a pair of headphones and a cool name that I got from Math class." Locally, SD has garnered much respect in the music scene, performing regularly at the legendary Tokyo Rose in Charlottesville, VA.
Music became an escape for Shawn early in life. In 6th grade Shawn tested positive for HIV and was expelled from school. "The powers-that-be hated the fact that AIDS had entered their smalltown, they just wanted me to disappear and die quietly," Shawn says, adding, "it was the 1980's, the town had just gotten over a serious case of Pac-Man Fever, I understand their reaction now."

Get With The Programs CD (2007)
Synthetic Division music CDs Considering the path that Synthetic Division has traveled, it's a wonder that they are even around to make music.
Diagnosed with a life-threatening illness as a child, Shawn Decker had the opportunity to meet anyone in the world through the Make-A-Wish Foundation: he chose Depeche Mode. "Jim Morrison got his songwriting powers as a child, when his parents drove past a car accident and the spirits of dead Native Americans lept into his soul," Decker says. "I got mine by shaking the hand of Martin Gore."Around the same time that Shawn was staring down an unlikely future, Kyle Wiggins, Shawn's bandmate with the futuristic sunglasses, was dealing with his own health concerns. Though they wouldn't meet until years later, both turned to electronic music for solace.
"When I put on the headphones to listen to my favorite bands," says Decker, "everything else ...
