Nuclear Vacation: The Party's Over CD (2002)
Voodoo Court albums Still obsessed with thermonuclear radiation and catching a good wave, Voodoo Court returns with more of their campy surf rock on Nuclear Vacation: The Party's Over. Where their previous record had shown the group grow in a more technically sound outfit, this album shows the band in a more hook-oriented place. Writing instrumental passages with catchy guitar phrases strewn about, the band seems to be improving their overall songwriting on this effort. A contributing factor may be the bleak atmosphere that hangs over the album, as evidenced by the darkly humorous photograph on the back cover depicting their skeleton mascot with Albert Einstein. Mark Kuhn carries the flow with reverb guitar taken from the roots of instrumental surf, up to modern day grunge energy levels.
There are many twists and added bits of musical flavor throughout.
Bill Feller hits it hard and keeps it going. The Drum beats require MUCH caffeine intake to duplicate, so don't even try it.
Gerard Lock lays down the Bass lines throughout- (solo on "Lost in Mazatlan").
We can't forget to mention "Ms. Bones" the first ever ...
