Bullyclub albums Pigeon Records announces the 2007 release of Tenure, an eleven song offering from Portland Maine's Bullyclub. This decade old band's fourth CD builds on the current lineups' years of not-quite-adult oriented rock. Maybe "hard soft rock" is a better description. "Some prolonged adolescence, a little arthritis, and a childish refusal to turn it down" mark this varied release of loud/quiet storytellings of childhood, betrayal, longing and dumb decisions. Engineers working on the project have collectively deemed Tenure as a mix between XTC, The Replacements and Thin Lizzy (ya, I know!). Try them again for the first time... Singer/songwriter Doug Cowan, born and bred in rural Maine, survived on K-Tel Hits albums until discovering his brother's record collection in the early 80's, which consisted mostly of early Neil Young and Elvis Costello vinyl. Adopting the apparent DIY attitude growing in underground music, he took two guitar lessons, ignoring everything but three barr chords, and promptly started a punk band without a name.
