This album really gets into the more upbeat side of acoustic blues, as well as rock and some folk. What is also differant about "Nightmares and Fairytales" is the extra layers of percussion involved, wether it be conga's, bongo's, or any of the many other percussive instruments involved. "He has a gravely voice that works perfectly with the songs he writes, he has also added a Dobro guitar to his collection of instruments and the twangy sound he gets from it matches his voice perfectly.
