Alien Starman CD (2004)
Al Fletcher CD discography Dub innovator and reggae legend Lee "Scratch" Perry is up to his typically bizarre antics on ALIEN STARMAN, originally recorded in 2003. With its prominent female backing vocals, light melodies, and straightforward rhythms, this outing strays pretty far from Perry's heady and typically demented dub stylings, but the record will still be of interest to devoted fans of the eccentric entertainer.
2003 album from the Grammy Award winning reggae icon. Alien Starman is exactly the kind of album Scratch should be making these days: funny, irreverent & right on the money. Perry doesn't take all production duties here; Roger Lomas is on hand as well, and the resulting sound calls to mind mid-season On-U as it ambles blissfully along with a female vocal back up team who sound like Akabu. An excellent album, better than 2002's Jamaican E.T. Snapper. 2005.
Recording information: Ro-Lo Studios, Coventry, England (01/2003-03/2003).
Personnel: Sharron Naylor (vocals, background vocals); Anthony Harty (guitar); Leigh Malin (saxophone); Justin Dodsworth (keyboards); Nick Welsh (bass guitar); Al Fletcher (drums); Michelle Naylor (background vocals).
Audio Mixer: Roger Lomas.

Al Fletcher discography JAMAICAN E.T. won the 2003 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
For a legendary dub pioneer who's as famed for burning down his own studio as for the countless groundbreaking records he's created, THE JAMAICAN E.T. is an appropriate title. Spiritually akin perhaps to the likes of ...
