Nothin' But the Blues CD (2008)
Roy Cunningham songs Like Little Johnny Taylor, Eddie Hinton, and Bobby "Blue" Bland, singer Earl Gaines has a style that falls somewhere on the borderline between Southern-style blues and old-school urban soul/R&B. Gaines conveys the grit and passion of the blues while dressing it up in a suave, uptown Saturday night soul style. His debut for Ecko, NOTHIN' BUT THE BLUES, features more of what Gaines is known for--songs about cheating, the healing power of a good love, and tough lessons of the past, all put across by his rich, down-to-earth, big-as-outdoors soulful voice.
Personnel: John Ward, Bobby Manuel (guitar); Jim Spake (horns); Curtis Jones (keyboards); Roy Cunningham (drums); Morris Williams, Brenda Williams (background vocals).
Recording information: Ecko Sound Studios, Memphis, TN.

Live at B.B. King's, LA CD (2008)
Roy Cunningham CD discography Until his untimely death in 2002, guitarist Little Jimmy King was keeping electric blues alive, specializing in Memphis-style blues and drawing inspiration from his mentors, Jimi Hendrix and Albert King (the two artists from whom he took his stage name). LIVE AT B.B. KING'S, L.A., finds the young six-string slinger tearing through a set of amped-up, Southern-fried barnburners with a band that rises to the occasion. The focus, naturally, is ...

Do You See What I See? CD (1972)
Roy Cunningham discography Digitally remastered by Joe Tarantino (1996, Fantasy Studios, Berkeley, California).
In the course of the Bar-Kays' 30-year career, the album given the least amount of recognition has been DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? Given the soulful, inspired playing featured here, this is unfortunate. On this early '70s release, The Bar-Kays' music is catchy, danceable and all around attention-grabbing. Younger generations may have missed out on this supergroup, but their musical ...
