Tony Viscardo CD discography Acoustic guitarists Romero and Viscardo have much in common with their obvious heroes Paco DeLucia, Egberto Gismonti, John McLaughlin, Joao Gilberto. The beatifully lush sounds of Brazil and beyond are wonderfully rendered on these twelve tracks, with substantial help from percussionist Manolo Badrena and John Albanese, bassist Chip Myers, (Mario Rodriguez on a couple of cuts) and Raul Jaurena on the bandoneon. Romero is the principal, having written seven of the pieces, and accounts for the full orchestral nature of the songs by overdubbing several instruments; electric and acoustic keyboards, cajon, MIDI guitar and bass, charango, vocals and percussion. Viscardo is the second guitarist. Together they create some luscious music based primarily on Romero's tropical compositions. Many are sung in Portugese, the exception being the North Andean Quichua dialect for lyrics on "Mas." "Riding The Waves" has nice guitar interplay between the two, "City Of Heaven" accurately depicts sounds of the rainforest, "Joelle" is a most happy melody for Viscardo's significant other, and the title track has the guitarists frantically dueling away ala McLaughlin-DeLucia. "La Anera" (written in 1946) and "Poseia" are potent duos with Romero and Badrena, and they do a marvelous version of Astor Piazzolla "Oblivion" replete with stair-step slow, repetitive counter melodies and crying bandoneon. The finale "El Condor Pasa" is brief, but more rich than Simon & Garfunkel could have imagined. If South American derived world music is what you crave late at night, this CD should satisfy completely. The musicianship is at a very high level, and the aesthetic is faithfully and honestly represented by the two plectrists and their friends. ~ Michael G. Nastos Recorded between December 1996 and January 1997. Feat.Herman Romero & Tony Viscardo Engineers: Tony Viscardo, Hernan Romero, John Albanese. Personnel: Hernan Romero (vocals, 12-string ...

Tony Viscardo discography With her boldest offering to date, the multi-talented Veronica Martell shows a very different side of her musical personality. The Art of Intimacy features Martell's take on one of love's greatest emotions. Critically acclaimed for her previous long-players Big City Swing and Lucky and singles "Too Young for the Blues" from Jazz: In Celebration of Life (which benefited the American-Italian Cancer Society) and "It's Alright With Me" from Kevin Mahogany's Big Band album, Martell reaches new creative heights. Special guests Tony Viscardo, Hernan Romero, and Trio da Paz add ...
