U.K. trio the Remote was formed on the members' mutual passion for David Bowie, electronic music, and Guns 'N Roses. This unlikely triad of influences starts to make more sense when one listens to the group's debut album, TOO LOW TO MISS. Taking their cue from the legions of rock acts who have defected en masse to the 4/4 thump of disco, the Remote fashions catchy, anthemic pop-punk more suitable for the Paradise Garage than CBGB's. Vocalist Ben Lost's monotone delivery recalls Pete Shelley's icy detachment, while the drum machine and synthesizers percolate with driving, danceable rhythm tracks.
