Vaihitian CD (2004)
Genre: Tahitian.
Distinguishing notes: Vaihi is a harmonic and melodic ensemble. The group (Bruce, Sam, Aaron and Piko) pays homage to Tahiti with a dozen tunes composed by Marotea Mariassouce, one of Tahiti's prolific tunesmiths. Not surprisingly, this CD - originally released in Tahiti - has been a top seller throughout French Polynesia. It's the first CD rendered in ...

Puko'a Kani 'Aina CD (1997)
Vaihi CD discography Vaihi, Puko'a Kani 'Aina (Moon Surfer Records MS 9004) This vocal offering is a treat. Lots of harmony, a la Ho'okena, with enough originality to keep you guessing. "La'ie" starts off with a chant, as a number of songs do these days; however, it's a particularly effective one. "Kolohe Time" is a rascally song with each singer taking ...

Vaihi CD (2001)
Vaihi albums Vaihi's third album is an impressive experiment considering the unwritten rules of the contemporary island music scene. Vaihi's album contains no Jawaiian stuff and no Top 40 pop chart remakes. Every song is fresh. Several were written by member Sam Longi, whose high profile as a member of the FM100 All-Star Band and co-host of "Local Kine Grindz" ...

Vaihi introduced itself as a unique entity in local music with its debut album in 1997. Eight years later the quartet is still continuing to refine its imaginative blend of ...

Nave Nave CD (2007)
"Nave Nave" by Vaihi; Vaihi Entertainment
Genre: Hawaiian seasoned with TahitianDistinguishing notes: Vaihi - Aaron Kaonohi, Bruce Naluai, Peter "Piko" Lakatani and Sam Langi Jr. - weds two Polynesian cultures because of fan demands in California, Japan and Tahiti. Some of the music seems improv - that is, loose, fun, casual - with hearty-party spirit.
The opening cut of "Nave Nave" (which means "pleasing" in Tahitian) is "Laelae Medley," robust and rich in vocal and instrumental dexterity, and sounding almost like a tribute to The Brothers Cazimero, with its lively and impromptu flavor in marrying three titles: "Nani Ka'ala," "Wai O Ke Aniani" and "Pauoa Ka Liko Lehua." Sets the mood nicely for what follows - a ride through South Seas tunes like "Ma O Hina," "Te Vai Hau," ...
