Taste Of Prison/Lee Harvey Oswald Band CD (1994)
Lee Harvey Oswald Band music CDs The TASTE OF PRISON CD contains the TASTE OF PRISON LP and the LEE HARVEY OSWALD BAND EP. The cassette version contains only the TASTE OF PRISON LP.
According to urban legend, several hundred copies of Taste of Prison were sent to correctional facilities across the United States. The cover photo of a (seemingly) 13-year-old naked girl shooting up makes that highly unlikely, but it would definitely be in character if it were true. Lee Harvey Oswald cranks out 17 tracks (the album also includes the tracks from the previously released Lee Harvey Oswald Band EP) of Slade-inspired garage band noise, as exemplified by "The Bowels of Rock and Roll." The Sonics' "Boss Hoss" never sounded so warped and eerie. All in all, a solid rock album produced during the early 1990s, when rock wasn't cool. ~ Alex Zorn

Blastronaut CD (1996)
Lee Harvey Oswald Band discography Released into an apparent vacuum of critical and audience interest, Blastronaut proved to be the Lee Harvey Oswald Band's swan song. Once again Touch & Go was a step ahead of the industry in releasing the album -- a true glam rock & roll stomper -- at a particularly rock-hostile moment in time. Combining the fashion sense of the New York Dolls, the vocal style of alien-era David Bowie, and some grinding guitar work a la Johnny Thunders, Blastronaut rocks out from the opening notes until the final fade out. "Surrender Earthlings" could have been a track that got left off the Ziggy Stardust album for being too sludgy. And their cover of the Move's "Brontosaurus" is a welcome surprise. As a follow-up to the excellent yet slightly inconsistent Taste of Prison, Blastronaut is 36 minutes of triumphant rock & roll. ~ Alex Zorn
Personnel: Zowie Fenderblast (vocals, guitar); James Meat (vocals, drums, percussion); Dredge (vocals, percussion).
Illustrator: Dale Gardner.
