Salar Nader CD discography REINVENTION is a soul-jazz album for the 21st century, one that draws on the genre's cool-groove past and infuses it with a sensibility informed by electronica and contemporary jazz. The Dixon-Rhyne Project features B-3 organist Melvin Rhyne (who played on some of Wes Montgomery's best albums in the `60s), saxophonist Rob Dixon, guitarist Fareed Haque, and drummer Kenny Phelps, all of whom bring different styles to their shared vision. The musical synthesis works perfectly: the music pulses and grooves in the manner of vintage soul-jazz, but the rhythms and ideas are often thoroughly modern (check the drum `n' bass-tinged "Shadow and Light").
