Legofriendly CD discography Egg Beater
If MOUSE ON MARS got totally funked-up, were joined by sound surgeons AUTECHRE, and together somehow captured the pop spirit of I AM ROBOT AND PROUD, you might end up with something like \"Egg Beater\", the second album by Tokyo-based electronic music duo Legofriendly.
Egg Beater is Legofriendly's second album after Form. The six tracks retain the essential feel from all earlier released tracks, yet also depart from them in densely layered sounds, percussive textures and unexpected angular melodies. Egg Beater is thus at once more determined and playful, yet also a bit mischievous: music to be enjoyed on different levels with each listen!
IDM's spirit of experimentation, the determined accessibility of Techno, the characteristic warmth of Electronica and the listener friendliness of angular POP come together in music that stimulates the brain and moves the feet. Recommended if you like Fourtet, Mouse on Mars, Pram, Autechre or Boards of Canada.
Dense urban electronic music with catchy melodies, funky rhythms and densely-layered audio landscapes that are frenetic at times, but never too far 'out there' - music to be enjoyed on different levels with each listen.
Quirky but never beyond reach: like a pile of Lego bricks, experiment a little and make of it what you will. Dense arrangements encourage you to take away something different on each listen as you settle into the comfortable melodies or let yourself be taken by the insistent rhythms.
Legofriendly is Stan Eberlein and Peter Slade. The unit was originally conceived as a live MIDI loop jam with two laptops, yet it wasn't long before the compositions became more arrangement based. Legofriendly's first release was the melodically infused "Form", a limited release CD-R from 2003 that has been made available again from Intervall-audio in 2006 as a free MP3 download under a Creative Commons 3.
