The appropriately titled Fiction Family Reunion, the second studio outing from Nickel Creek guitarist Sean Watkins and Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman-led folk-pop outfit Fiction Family, officially adds touring members Tyler Chester (bass) and Aaron Redfield (drums) to the fold, successfully rounding out the group's already warm and inviting sound. Reflective and homespun, yet nimble enough to dabble in multiple genres (indie pop, Americana, psych-folk) without ever losing sight of its traditional singer/songwriter-oriented foundation, Fiction Family Reunion benefits from the family's expansion, and is as inviting and unguarded as it is wily and unpredictable. Fiction Family is the duo of Nickel Creek's Sean Watkins and Switchfoot's Jon Forman. The pair recorded their side project's debut album over the course of three years' worth of sessions, and these 12 tracks have a casual, off-the-cuff feel that befits the busman's holiday circumstances of their creation.
