Dean Brody CD (2009)
Dean Brody albums Hailing from the vast Canadian wilderness of British Columbia, Dean Brody brings an outsider's perspective to spit-shined Nashville country on his sterling self-titled debut. Produced by Matt Rovey and musically deepened by ace Nashville studio picking, DEAN BRODY announces the arrival of major songwriting talent sprung from the Keith Whitley school of country. The album is all strong country narrations--Brody penned most of the songs himself--that run the gamut from the sly backwoods wit of "Dirt Road Scholar," which finds the narrator boasting of his graduation from the "poison ivy league" to a sorority girl, to deeply affecting, war-related balladry such as the haunting "Brothers," a tribute to the sacrifices soldiers make for their families. In spite of the heavy subject matter, the latter became Brody's break-out hit.

Classic CD (2013)
There's a wonderful, plaintive voice singing Kitty Wells' "The White Circle on My Finger," that eerily opens Terri Clark's Classic. That segues into Clark and band ripping into a barroom-stomping read of Wells' "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels." That uncredited voice at the beginning belongs to Clark's grandmother, ...
