Julian Plenti Is Skyscraper CD (2009)
Julian Plenti songs A solo album - yet not, JULIAN PLENTI IS SKYSCRAPER is the debut album from the alter ego of Interpol's frontman Paul Banks. Plenti played acoustic performances around New York City during the late '90s until Interpol took off in 2001, but shelved the moniker until '06. Since Banks is so distinctive as Interpol's voice, it's easy to think any music he's involved in would sound like his main gig, but in fact, one of the biggest differences between this record and his other work (and one that strengthens the case for him to have an alias) is Banks' singing style. His voice has gotten richer and less forced over the years, and songs like the gently persuasive album opener "Only If You Run" show off a softness that only surfaces occasionally in Interpol's music. JULIAN PLENTI IS SKYSCRAPER takes the scenic route, and it pays off with an intimate, subtle set ...

 Julian Plenti Biography
Julian Plenti CD discography The alter ego of Interpol's Paul Banks, Artist creates darkly moving music, not dissimilar to his main band's oeuvre, but slightly stripped down and with just a hint more light. Plenti's musical career is actually slightly longer than that of Banks' other project: Banks conceived of Plenti in 1996 and began performing as an acoustic solo artist in 1998, playing venues including the Knitting Factory and Tobacco Road. He continued writing and performing as Plenti while Interpol's fame grew, but Plenti took a sabbatical around 2003. In 2006, Banks revived the Plenti work when he began experimenting with the recording software Logic Pro and demoed new and old songs, which would form the genesis of the 2009 debut, Artist IS SKYSCRAPER.
