Edge of Jazz CD (2009)
At 16 years of age Jay Bishop said to his friends that he would be a famous guitarist. They all laughed and found it amusing because Jay Bishop never really played guitar. It was true that at 11 years old his parents bought him a guitar, but it remained a home for dust until jay picked it up shortly after his bold statement. Jay did not let the inconvenience of not knowing how to play a guitar deter him from his new found goal. He picked up the guitar and started playing. With in 1 year he was able to play better than people who have been playing for 3 - 5 years. Then while playing around on his mother's computer he discovered recording. Since then Jay Bishop has recorded well over 100 songs. He continues to push him self to write all different kinds of music. Though originally a heavy metal guitarist; he has written music in the genres of Jazz, Classical, TV show themes, Western, etc. Jay Bishop has sold and distributed CDs in the underground San Diego scene for the last 8 years. He played for several bands like Phamin, Bishop, Edges of Infinity, and DethRattle as well. The Edge of Jazz marks Jay Bishop's first debut into the real world of music. It's an album that best introduces Jay Bishop's versatility in writing music. It weaves the listener through a dark and melodic blend of Jazz, Rock, and Metal that ends the journey on an acoustic song known as 'Yesterday's Sorrow.
' 12 Years, 7 underground albums, and his first market album; make Jay Bishop an artist worth looking at.
