In FRANKIE AND JOHNNIE WERE LOVERS, Rene stars as Frankie opposite real-life lover Ric Lutze as Johnnie. This doesn't stop them from enjoying one another in all manner of unlikely places, however, and they even let Frankie's best friend Alice (Cyndee Summers) in on some of the action. This double feature includes two of her best performances. Ultimately Johnnie's true intentions come to light, resulting in a hilariously over-the-top denouement. With a mean ex-husband and $30,000 in the bank, Frankie pursues a career as a singer while taking up with Johnnie, a car junky who wants Frankie's cash for his own harebrained investments. Pixie-ish and girl-next-door cute, '70s smut princess Renee Bond radiated a charming sensuality that gave her top-billing in the Times Square porn houses.
