Entombed Biography
Easily the mightiest band to come from placid Sweden, Artist set the stage for a whole new style of metal. They began the 1990s as a fairly straightforward death metal act, but rapidly evolved into a careening, thrusting juggernaut playing the newly christened "Death `n' Roll." By 1993's WOLVERINE BLUES, death metal had intermingled with hardcore's brutal swing and hard rock's swagger to create a thick, groove-heavy hybrid. Purists were aghast, but everyone else thought it just plain rocked, and Artist's slot in the metal hall of fame was ensured. Tremendously influential and still kicking, Artist makes an infernal racket.
