| | Letter Kills Bridge CD (2004)
$8.65 Vocalist Matt Shelton can belt out an angst-ridden moan with the best of them, but that doesn't stop him from inserting the occasional hard-rock shout or Jello Biafra-esque snarl. Landing mid-way between the hard-edged sound favored by contemporaries Story of the Year and the more accessible sounds made famous by Hoobastank, the So-Cal band injects bit of fun into an often dead-serious genre. On "Whatever It Takes," the group reaches back even further for inspiration, forging a loud and trashy sound that calls NYC punk godfathers the Dictators. Letter Kills: Matt Shelton (vocals); Timothy Cordova, Dustin Lovelis (guitar); Kyle Duckworth (bass guitar); Paul Remund (drums). California-based rockers Letter Kills deliver a potent mix of modern emo-core and old-school punk, with just a hint of bluesy 1970s guitar rock. An energetic and joyous debut, THE BRIDGE should appeal to clean-cut emo kids and tattooed rockers alike

$8.09 ~ James Christopher Monger Of all the big summer music festivals, the Warped Tour is perhaps the most focused, delivering a tight, dual-stage lineup of punk, punk, and more punk. There's a great deal of emo whining from Matchbook Romance and Amber Pacific and nu-metal posturing from bands like From Autumn to Ashes, but it's power pop in the Green Day fashion that fuels the majority of the tracks here, resulting in a fun summer record that champions of the genre and past and future Warped attendees will revel in, and fans of fake English accents will flock to. Warped Tour: 2004 Compilation follows in the footsteps of its predecessors by including tracks from all of the previous year's Warped Tour acts. This includes everything from classic punk (Bad Religion and the Descendants) to old-school revivalists like the Briggs and Avoid One Thing -- the latter sound remarkably like a cross between Social Distortion and the Misfits. 2cds-Flogging Molly/Simple Pln New Found Glory/Good Charlotte
